My Karma ran over your Dogma! (see more)

November 28, 2011

It's going to be a very busy week so I thought I'd resurrect some of my favorite quotes to get me motivated................

Achieving starts with believing.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, Begin it. Boldness has Genius, Power and Magic in it.

Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
...

Failure is not the worst thing in the world. The very worst is not to try.

Rejection is temporary. Questions of what could have been last forever.

It is wise to keep in mind that no success or failure is necessarily final.

If you really do put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.

A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.

Goals that are not written down are just wishes.

The harder you fall, the higher you bounce.

A friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done.

Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional.

My Karma ran over your Dogma.

"DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA" - NoHo - Tickets on sale now!

November 27, 2011

I saw a wonderful 1 man, 1 woman play this past Friday evening at the Crown City Theatre in North Hollywood. “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” Written by John Patrick Shanley and Directed by John McNaughton stars Juliet Landau and Matthew J. Williamson. The two actors were brilliant!

THE STORY: The setting is a rundown bar in the Bronx, where two of society's rejects, Danny and Roberta, strike up a halting conversation over their beer. He is a brooding, self-loathing young man who resorts more to violence than reason; she is a divorced, guilt-ridden young woman whose troubled teenage son is now being cared for by her parents. Danny, whose fellow truck drivers call him "the animal," seems incapable of tender emotion, while Roberta, who is still haunted by the memory of an ugly sexual incident involving her father, is distrustful of men in general. And yet, as their initial reserve begins to melt, and they decide to spend the night together, the possibility of a genuine and meaningful relationship begins to emerge—the first for both of them. In the end there are no facile, easy answers, but thanks to the playwright's skill and compassion, both characters are able to probe within themselves to find an exorcism and forgiveness that, while painfully achieved, offers the hope of a future touched, at last, with more than the bitterness and loneliness that had been their lot before their fateful meeting. Review:

I believe it is scheduled to close on December 11, 2011 so there is still time to see this show: http://www.crowncitytheatre.com  818-605-5685

Dominic Cooper - "The Devil's Double" (LIONSGATE 2011)

November 27, 2011

This past Saturday, I stumbled across “The Devil’s Double” when searching for a movie on Redbox. In my mind it’s 5 STARS!  Dominic Cooper's portrayal of Uday Hussein/Latif Yahia is OSCAR worthy.  I also believe supporting nominations should be given to Ludivine Sagnier (Sarrab) and Raad Rawi (Munem). Finally, the movie’s Director, Lee Tamahori and Writers Michael Thomas and Latif Yahia should also receive recognition.

This is an intense film suitable for ADULTS only.
I highly recommend it.
